The Power of Music in Self-Reflection.

Music has always played a monumental role in sculpting the contours of my life. It's woven into the fabric of my earliest memories, intensifying my emotions and offering solace during moments of turbulence. More than mere sound waves, music serves as a portal to the present moment, casting its undeniable magic through beats, rhythms, and resonant lyrics that plunge us into profound self-reflection.

My recent introspective journey was sparked by the compelling track "Hi Ren - By Ren." This poignant song delves into the internal strife many of us grapple with – the tug-of-war between our personal doubts and the opposing forces of goodness and darkness. It resonated deeply with me, serving as a catalyst for introspection and urging me to confront my innermost struggles head-on. Its impact, heightened by an evocative music video, has left an indelible mark on my psyche, prompting me to invite others to experience its transformative message.

As I delved deeper into self-reflection, I confronted my own battles with limiting beliefs, toxic self-talk, and conflicting emotions surrounding strength, pride, and self-confidence. I realized that, like many, I've become adept at concealing these internal struggles. Yet, I am fortunate to have an unwavering support network, particularly my wife, who encourages me to confront my thoughts with courage and provides a safe space for vulnerability. Recognizing the privilege of such support, I'm driven by both passion and honor to extend a helping hand to others as a certified Life Coach.

My journey of reflection also led me to marvel at the transformative power of music, which has been a constant companion throughout my life. From the resonating melodies that filled my childhood home to the eclectic fusion of sounds and vocals that characterised my teenage years, music has been an ever-present force shaping my experiences and perspectives.

Growing up in a predominantly white neighbourhood, my immersion into a Samoan family introduced me to a new musical universe, marked by RnB, Rap, and Hip Hop. This cultural exchange broadened my musical horizons, while also highlighting society's tendency to label and ostracise those who defy norms. My affinity for "different" genres often drew skepticism and disdain, even leading to bullying, yet these very genres have since become cultural pillars.

Reflecting on these experiences, I'm struck by the contrast between societal encouragement to express emotions and the simultaneous pressure to "toughen up." It's a reminder of the importance of normalising authentic expression and championing diversity without fear of judgment.

Recently, a comment about my music choice reignited buried emotions of past ostracism, prompting a visceral response. This visceral reaction compelled me to confront societal boundaries that once confined my expressions, fuelling a sense of defiance against restrictive norms.

Before critiquing another's artistic expression, let's pause to consider the potential impact of our words. Music, like all forms of art, is a deeply personal expression that warrants respect and appreciation for its diversity. Instead of perpetuating negativity, let's foster an environment of encouragement and celebration, where individuality flourishes without constraints.

In conclusion, remember: YOU ARE AMAZING, SO BE YOU.
